Ghoti is a word constructed to illustrate the irregularities of written English. It is pronounced “fish”; the gh is pronounced as in “tough”, o as in “women”, and ti as in “nation”. Often attributed to George Bernard Shaw, the actual origin of the word is unknown.

I would absolutely hate to have to learn English. I love our language, but I’m so grateful I grew up with it.

This is great, but I agree with Rebecca - so glad English is my first language.

What even is that word :’D. Anyway, I’m glad I’ve got Dutch as a first language because especially written it’s just so difficult.

The English language is ridiculous…. Which is why I don’t get why people in my Spanish class are always like “What? That makes no sense!” It does, you’re just used to looking at it the bass-ackwards English way.
